Maybe I’m just still sore at what Jordan pulled at the Hall of Fame induction or maybe it’s just the fact that the man really is aging before our eyes, but I think I’m ready to give up on caring about Michael Jordan.
Don’t get me wrong. I still laugh out loud any time I see a Youtube Video of him doing anything in his playing days. I mean the moves he pulled were literally a joke. I get what Kobe and Lebron do today. I understand it and appreciate their skills but being a Knicks fan and growing up watching this guy deteriorate our team year after year, nothing compares to the fear this man instilled in both players and fans.
From a mental perspective there was/is nothing like it in sport. But I digress because this is Jordan ON the court. And him on the court? How could I even deny he’s my favorite all time player? (save for Larry Legend). I mean what player would you watch most if you could? Exactly, it’s Michael Jordan.
But as a man? As a human being? Executive? My days of being 10 years old and being in awe are overshadowed by being a man and feeling sad for Michael Jordan. He’s a compulsive gambler. The man clearly cheated on his wife repeatedly. His ego as a player has lead him to being a terrible executive and to top it all off, the man isn’t even remotely happy with his accomplishments because he’s too concerned with what people think.
If he weren’t a basketball player that shocked me night after night then I’d simply think this guy was a douchebag. Funny thing is, he’s been a douchebag all along. Just not as a player.
Well, I think I’m finally done with Michael Jordan. And I’m sure he really cares.
