arnold the viking

The short answer. No.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger helped clear the way Thursday for a new football stadium to be built near Los Angeles and in the process sent a slight shiver through Minnesota Vikings fans.

As he signed legislation Thursday designed to fast-track a stadium by exempting it from state environmental laws, Schwarzenegger signaled the state would be looking outside its borders for a new team.

The Vikings were quick Thursday to reiterate that while they were monitoring developments in California, the team had so far rebuffed attempts from the California developers to consider moving to Los Angeles.

This is new stadium politics at it’s finest. Arnold wants an NFL franchise in L.A. and everyone who has an old shitty stadium is going to try and use this as leverage to get a new stadium. I can remember back in the day when the Patriots were going to be moving to Connecticut. Everyone got their panties in a twist because they actually thought they were going to have to drive to the middle of nowhere to watch their home team play.

In reality though, it was just a way to clear up some political bullshit and see if the commonwealth would fork over some cold hard cash and incentives for a new stadium.

So if Minnesota wants to play their cards right, I would suggest that the front office starts chumming around with Arnold and even get some L.A. Vikings contraband circulating around the Internet. Maybe even have Brett Favre start talking about how he’s always dreamed of winning a championship in L.A.
