When I first wrote about Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant’s little white lie, I never thought the NCAA would actually suspend him for the entirety of the season.
Oklahoma State says wide receiver Dez Bryant will remain suspended for the remainder of the football season.
School officials announced Tuesday evening they were informed of Bryant’s status by the NCAA. He will be eligible to play in September 2010.
Oklahoma State is appealing the decision.
Unbelievable! Is the NCAA that bored? Yeah, the kid was an idiot for lying, but he lied because he knows how strict and arbitrary the NCAA can be and thought he did something wrong when he actually was in the clear. Nobody gets punished this severely for a lie where nobody got hurt. Although, it would seem the poor ole NCAA’s feelings were hurt, since they feel the need to punish someone far beyond the crime.
I defy the NCAA tools who gave this punishment the thumbs up to tell me they haven’t lied since Bryant did. At least when they lie, an idiotic organization doesn’t throw obscure punishments at them. Their careers aren’t drastically altered. That’s what they’re doing to Bryant and it’s flat out wrong.
When I lied, my dad sent me to my room. That was the most he’d do. Most of the time he would just tell me I was wrong and eventually it sunk in. That’s when I was a CHILD, though. Bryant is pretty much an adult and should be treated like one. Adults who lie and haven’t actually broken any serious rules don’t get suspended for a year.
Next we’ll read about the NCAA bigwigs arbitrarily kicking children in the stomach.
