It’s pretty clear by now that Brett Myers is a Grade-A scumbag. Not only does he hit women, he’s a terrible teammate, too:
PHILADELPHIA – Phillies pitchers Brett Myers and Cole Hamels had a short but tense confrontation in the team’s clubhouse following Game 5 of the World Series, according to one witness, words that stemmed from Hamels’ recent statement that he was eager for his season to end.
As Myers walked past Hamels near Hamels’ locker he said, mocking, “What are you doing here? I thought you quit.”
Hamels, the witness said, responded with an expletive.
Before the situation escalated, Myers was guided away by a team official.
I’m don’t want to defend what Cole Hamels said, but we’ve all said dumb shit in the heat of the moment out of frustration. You get shelled, you may say some things you don’t really mean. But the Phillies are trying to celebrate a win over the Yankees, and dirtbag Brett Myers takes it upon himself to go out of his way to be a dick to Cole Hamels. Pretty sweet.
People are going to jump all over Cole Hamels for what he said – and maybe they should, for a bit – but what kind of a guy, after a World Series win, antagonizes a teammate? A player, mind you, who may end up pitching again this Series. A wife-beating scumbag, that’s who. A-Rod may be a phony, and Swisher may be arrogant, but that’s nothing compared to a guy who hits women and chastises his own teammates during World Series play.
And yes, the view is mighty fine from way up here on my high horse. I hope nobody’s buying all this “they’re friends, Brett was joking” bullshit.

They are actually very close friends, their wifes are very close as well.
What started the incident was a comment made via third party.. Brett did not make them to Cole personally, although he did make it earlier to another teamate. You should have known by the end of day what really happened then reported on it with a bit more accuracy, especially the day after the fact.
Swisher arrogant..? One of the most accessible, aggressive, real and down to earth players in the league, wish more were like him. If that’s arrogant, more power to ya Swish!
Opinions are great, but right like you know something! Inaccurate – first report news from Yahoo! Sports wont get you much of a following or positive feedback. Nor the obvious lack of understanding that what Cole said is one of the worst things that can be said in the middle of the Series when it comes to your team. Guess if my ERA was over 7.00 i would want shit to end as well, but that comment goes unsaid unless your up 3 games to 1.. and even then it’s a slippery slope.

@ Gage
My opinion – as I made clear – is that I don’t buy the bullshit afterwards. How could the story have been so inaccurate and stood for 24 hours, only to have it debunked with a bunch of wishy-washy excuses? Because the excuse is bullshit. You don’t “mistake” two guys having to be separated. How do you know what really happened?
Swisher is arrogant…but he’s also the man. Have loved that guy since I read Moneyball, so I am definitely not taking a shot at him. The comment was tongue-in-cheek.
Thanks for reading.

what really happened was detailed all day yesterday, after the referenced article.. no excuses or justifications were made, just clarity..
Nobody said there wasn’t an altercation.. Just the facts that led up to it – sport!

@ Gage
Can we at least agree that Brett Myers is a scumbag?
