If you’re a Raiders fan, you’re probably counting down the days until Al Davis dies.  This season has been a nightmare, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a professional sports organization in more disarray than these Oakland Raiders.  Jamarcus Russell is the worst starting quarterback I can remember seeing in all of my years of watching the NFL, and the head coaching job seems to change almost every season.  With news like this, I’d be surprised if Tom Cable is still around next season.  Or in, like, three weeks:

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Tom Cable said Wednesday that he has spoken with Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis about allegations that the coach has a history of violent behavior toward women.

“What we talked about is between us, and we’ll keep it that way,” Cable said.

Cable said the conversation came within the past two days and that his job status wasn’t discussed. Cable said he plans to coach the Raiders for the remainder of the season.

The Raiders are undergoing a “serious evaluation” of allegations that Cable’s first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, made to ESPN. They claimed that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships.

Cable acknowledged in a statement Sunday that he struck Sandy Cable with an open hand. Cable said the altercation happened more than 20 years ago and was the only time he has ever inappropriately touched a woman. He stood by that statement Wednesday, declining to answer any questions on the topic.

First off, it looks like Nattyb wasn’t too out of line for calling Cable a woman-beater.  So, uh, congrats on that.  Second, I like how Cable and Al Davis meet to address this, but nothing is said about Cable’s job as head coach of the Raiders.  Why not?  I’m guessing Al Davis is so out of touch that he thinks it’s still acceptable to hit women.  Do you think he knows that women are allowed to vote?  Do you think he knows who Tom Cable is?  I’m guessing the conversation went something like this:

Al Davis: Tim, please come in.

Cable:  Um, it’s Tom, sir.

Al Davis:  What?  You have to speak up.

Cable:  I said “it’s Tom, sir.”

Al Davis:  Who’s Tom?

Cable: I am.

Al Davis: What?

Cable:  Sir, you wanted to speak to me?  About the fact that I may have hit women in the past?

Al Davis: My diaper needs changing.

It’s going to be a long, long season, Raiders fans.
