…When everyone else is telling him what an idiot he’s been.
Let’s do a quick recap. First it was Florida’s Spikes who inexplicably tried to poke a Georgia player’s eyes out. There was no penalty called, but upon review, Meyer decided to suspend Spikes for a half. As we’ve discussed, this is hardly even a slap on the wrist, especially since their next game is against Vanderbilt (I could beat Vanderbilt).
Since then, the media and sports writers everywhere have gone nuts, giving Meyer the proverbial shame on you finger for setting a bad example. It seemed the University of Florida was on its way to having the character standards of another Florida school, The U.
NOW, after everyone has called Meyer out, he has decided to step the pansy-ass suspension up a notch.
Coach Urban Meyer says it was in the best interest of the team for Spikes to serve a full-game suspension when the top-ranked Gators play Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Bravo, Coach! Way to show your players that you’re not tough on misbehavior when in the midst of a national title race AND that you’ll buckle under pressure whenever the media acts up.
I can’t wait until the week before the final BCS poll and we’ll get to see more Meyer gems when he starts campaigning (again) for a right to defend their title. (Please, somebody beat the Gators!)
