If John Heyman’s Twitter is to be believed, the Yankees – but not the Mets – are interested in signing John Lackey:

#mets people seem concerned enough about lackey’s past arm issues to keep them away. #yankees are definitely interested.about 10 hours ago from web

So let me get this straight.  The Mets – a team desperate for not just starting pitching, but everything – are too worried about Lackey’s “past arm issues” to consider signing him.  Wow.  Pretty amazing for a team that was sending out  guys like Tim Redding and Bobby Parnell.  And maybe you didn’t notice, Lackey made 27 starts last year and, for the most part, was cash money in the playoffs.  But yeah, you’re better off trying to rehabilitate head cases who are allergic to the strike zone like Oliver Perez.

Good God.  John Lackey would be a great signing for the Mets, and it boggles the mind that they’re scared off because of past arm issues.  Keep riding John Maine and Mike Pelfrey, guys, I’m sure that’s gonna work out just great.  I’d make a joke about this being like me rejecting a hot girl because she had like a bunion in the past, but let’s look at this for what it really is:  Omar Minaya’s racism on full display, neglecting white players in favor of Latinos.

I doubt you are around but do you sound like a genius after this article, especially this gem.
