Well the Knicks are pretty crappy right now so it couldn’t hurt right? Maybe?

Allen Iverson’s short career with the Memphis Grizzlies ended Monday when the two sides mutually parted ways after only three games. The 10-time all-star guard and former MVP was waived by the Grizzlies, who signed him to a one-year, $3.09-million contract late in the summer.

The Knicks passed on acquiring the four-time NBA scoring champion last season when he was being shopped by the Denver Nuggets and again during the offseason when he was a free agent. But at this point, with the Knicks off to a 1-9 start and frustration brewing within the long-suffering fan base, could the team be desperate enough to make a play for the 34-year-old Iverson – [Via Newsday]

Alright New York.   Let’s think this one through.   Would it be pretty sweet to have one of the fiercest competitors in the game in a Knicks uni?  Yeah I guess.  Am I being sarcastic?  Yes and no.

You want my reasons for Iverson sporting the blue and orange?  OK, here they are

1.  He’s Old

It’s perfectly fitting that the Knicks take Allen Iverson because he’s clearly not as good as he used to be.   So they might as well hire a guy who is going to take 25 shots a game and not help the team in any way, shape or form.

2.  He’s a guard

It’s not as if the Knicks don’t already have like 16 guards on their team.  Might as well get another guy to run the floor and have one less big man who can play any defense on larger guys from another team.

3.  He’ll delay the development of younger players

Just when Toney Douglas is gaining confidence, might as well swoop in a guy to take his minutes and not think about the future.  This is the Knicks philosophy.   Think about THIS season.  Um, I thought we were rebuilding guys?  Guess not.

4.  Put more talent on a team that can’t play together

Remember this?  Yeah that worked

I’ve never seen more of display of guys that are actually good individually that absolutely suck as a team.  Iverson will be perfect for this mold.

5.  He’s gonna practice

6.  Just kidding, sign him for less than 1MM and you got a deal

I admit, it’d be pretty tight to have A.I. in an Knicks uniform.  OK, I’m lying, who cares?  The Knicks suck and I’m tired of it.

Oh and by the way I think Iverson is one of the toughest competitors to ever play the game of basketball but that doesn’t mean at 34 he’s gonna help anyone all that much.
