bills

At least, let’s hope we don’t have to witness this horrific an injury again anytime soon.  From buffalonews.com:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Buffalo Bills’ already crippled offensive line suffered a devastating blow Sunday as rookie right guard Eric Wood sustained a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula in the fourth quarter of an 18-15 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Wood was taken to a Jacksonville hospital, where he had immediate season-ending surgery. It is not known when he will be able to travel back to Buffalo.

It’s pretty bad anytime an athlete suffers an injury this severe, but I feel especially bad for a rookie off to a great start in the NFL.  You’re exceeding expectations and anchoring the offensive line, finally getting comfortable in your role when all of a sudden, out of nowehere, your lower leg snaps like celery.  To make matters worse, the Bills lost to the Jags 18-15, falling to 3-7 and dead last in the AFC East.  All they’ve got to look forward now is a T.O. meltdown.  Otherwise, this season is over.

If you can stomach the video of Wood’s injury, check it out after the jump.
