The  Nets received their season leading 14th straight loss yesterday to the Nuggets.  I mean I guess one could say it was expected as the Nuggets are a far superior team.  Hey at least the Nets are leading in something right?  Absolutely shitty play.  Granted Devin Harris has been out but still one would think a team who has a decent center could muster up at least one win no?

Plus I really enjoy all this losing.  Screw Lawrence Frank.  He looks like a little pain in the ass type guy and got totally lucky inheriting Kidd in his prime, Carter, and Richard Jefferson.  Doesn’t Frank look like some little fired up redhead type that would annoy you to all hell as kids?  Like the kind of kid who’d be like “let me come over and play!” or “you suck at this game, let me show you!”

Plus Rod Thorn?  No, he was never this smart mastermind guy.  Again, he had good players.  Good executives don’t let teams get this bad.  Rebuilding is one thing but potentially being the worst team in NBA history is another.

Come on guys.  I’m rooting for ya!

So who exactly qualifies as the worst teams in NBA history?  Here are my top five.

5.  ’95-96 Vancouver Grizzlies  -  Record of 15-67

GREG-ANTHONY-CBS-College-Basketball-Analyst-Former-NBA-Player

The ’96’97 team actually had one less loss but when your star player is Greg Anthony I can’t accept that the 97 team was worse.  Afterall it featured a Sharif Abdur Rahim baby!  I can’t even imagine how a team could muster 15 wins with Anthony leading the way.  Wow that’s piss poor.

4.  ’92-’93 Dallas Mavericks – Record of 11-71

Harper

Derek Harper leading the way!  Remember how atrocious the Mavs were in the early 90s?  In the 80s they were a scoring machine but when Rolando Blackman and Marc Aguirre weren’t there anymore it was a serious problem.  Not to mention a young Sam Perkins!  I’m sure 90-94 were years the Mavs wanted to forget.  Although remember the team with Kidd, Mashburn and Jimmy Jackson?  Wow they had potential.

3.  ’82-’83 Houston Rockets – Record of 14-68

2000rockets10

This is two years before Hakeem arrived and they had some young players.  They got better the next year with 29 wins and once The Dream arrived all was well in Houston.

2.  ’86-’87 Los Angeles Clippers  Record of 12-70

You didn’t think I’d leave out a Clippers team did you?  Leading scorer was Mike Woodson!  Kicking ass as the Hawks coach I might add

1.  ’72-’73 Philadelphia 76ers – Record of 9-73

Can you even imagine being this bad?  Call me crazy but I think the Nets can do it this year.  Although it’s really hard to get that many losses when you have a decent center.  We shall see.

* you can count the 6-42 Providence Steamrollers if you want but that’s lame
