OK, Dwight Howard is a fun guy. He’s got a great personality and those cute little ears that make you want to eat him all up! He’s an absolute beast and I’m willing to bet wears a 55 long Jacket (actually it’s a 50XL). So it’s not as if I have a problem with Mr. Howard. In fact he’s one of my favorite players out there because I genuinely think he likes playing basketball. He’s a passionate contributor and you can tell he cares out there.
However I do have a problem with his game. After seeing him in at least 100 games it’s tough to watch someone with that much physical dominance who really can’t play basketball all that well. Yes, I know you’re all thinking Shaq. And granted you guys have a great point there. But let’s not forget Shaq developed a great post game and was/is a VERY good passer for a man his size. Sure he didn’t have the finesse of an Hakeem Olajuwon but Shaq knew how to ball (and kind of still does…or not).
As far as Howard? The guy just isn’t there yet and this season concerns me. He’s got zero confidence at the line (even though he shot 67% in his rookie year) and I don’t think I’ve seen him make one decent offensive move the entire season.
His game is based solely on his athletic skill which amazingly makes him one of the most dominant players in the league. But I have to say it’s a shame to watch someone that big and that athletic who can’t even hit a shot from the elbow. This is why you have to appreciate guys like Kevin Garnett who have great outside shots, patience at the free throw line and can also get it done defensively.
But Jesus Dwight. Just develop a nice little post up move. How about a hook? Something? Let’s face it, this is Howard’s 6th season. Yes, 6th season. That’s a lot of time to at least develop some kind of a shot or signature move.
Not sure what they’re waiting for in Orlando. Granted it’s a great team, I just think it’s scary what Howard would be capable of if he were a 75% free throw shooter and could actually make an outside jumpshot. Then they wouldn’t be so reliant on Vince Carter taking 25 shots a game.

Shaq’s footwork was leaps and bounds better than Howard’s when they are at the same stages of their careers.
Forget about Howard – what I want to know is how the hell Lebron doesn’t have a post game yet!!!
