Florida fans are trying to get everyone to wear eye black this weekend in honor of Tim Tebow’s final home game.

Several groups of Florida fans agree, although there are others who believe Tebow shouldn’t be singled out on senior day. It’s unclear who originated the idea to have everyone wear eye black for Tebow’s finale against rival Florida State, but the plan has spread quickly through Twitter, Facebook, Internet message boards and blogs.

Normally I’m of the “rival fan” variety that is sick of hearing about the media’s obsession over all things Tim Tebow.

Tim Tebow took a dump! Oh, he did it with such dignity! What a guy! Oh, golly gosh darn!

But this time, I’m not bothered. It sounds like a nice tribute for the guy who has helped bring 2 national championships to Florida and quite possibly a third. In fact… is eye black enough? Most guys who have done with Tebow has done end up with a monument, shrine or statue of some sort.

I’d expect to see something along those lines eventually, but it unfortunately goes against that whole “idols” business in that Bible book he’s quite fond of.

Folks, remember the name Nyrel Sevilla because he’s doing things at the age of six that most people can’t even do in the NFL.   Which reminds me.  What the hell was I doing at the age of 6?

1. Looking at my brother’s porn collection and not yet getting erections
2. Trading baseball cards when they were actually worth something
3. Watching He-Man and not realizing that the character is in fact gay
4. Enjoying Bird vs. Magic in the Playoffs
5. Loving Phil Simms eat up the Broncos in the Superbowl

But I’m pretty sure if there was one thing I was not doing at the age of 6, it was delivering the kind of bone crushing tackles that little Nyrel dishes out in this video.

Steroids, at 6?  Come on parents!

Click on the photo to see what we learned from the Texans-Titans game where Young OWNED everyone.

I wish my Browns had a backup QB that could do what Young has been doing. Step it up, Brett Ratliff!

Did you guys know that there’s an NBA Jersey crisis going on?

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is calling on one sportswear company to keep the production of uniforms for NBA players in the U.S.

Adidas says it plans to end its contract with American suppliers and move production to Thailand.

The move would cost the factory in upstate New York that makes more than half of the uniforms 100 jobs

Come on Adidas.  Please?  I mean our Senator wants you to spend more money and to be Patriotic?  Can’t you just go along with the rest of the country please?  Don’t outsource.  Stay American!

Use expensive labor.  Spend way more than you have to.  Make things fancy and shiny so that a guy who makes $200,000 PER game can look a little better.  Keep it American baby!

No.  Outsource the shit out anything.  Don’t spend more than you need to.  Pocket the profits and don’t listen to anyone.  THAT should be the American way.

richrodMichigan fans aren’t used to rebuilding seasons and definitely aren’t liking the feeling. After a second straight losing season, Michigan fans and alums are trying to show Coach Rod the way out with not-so-subtle hints. Some are even coming up with economic stimulus plans for Michigan that involve firing Rich Rod for (get this) breach of contract.

It’s been no secret that since the Rod-era began, Michigan has been on the NCAA’s naughty list. A traditionally clean program, Michigan has gotten themselves into as much trouble as the school bully thanks to a very picky hall monitor, a.k.a. the NCAA in this instance. Continue Reading »

From Chicago Breaking Sports:

From David Kaplan, WGN-AM 720: Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen was involved in a fight outside a South Bend bar early Sunday morning, according to a report Monday evening by WGN-AM’s David Kaplan.

According to Kaplan, Clausen has two black eyes from the altercation at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The incident comes on the heels of the Irish’s overtime loss to Connecticut, their fifth of the season, leaving Notre Dame at 6-5.

Not one, but two black eyes?  Jesus Christ, how embarrassing.  Could you imagine something like this happening to Tim Tebow?  Of course not – he’d never lose to a school like Connecticut.

This should help further dispel the Urban Meyer-to-Notre-Dame rumors, too.  You think a winner like Meyer is going to coach for a school where its quarterback – instead of eating fireworks and curing cancer with his pre-jism – is getting shoved into lockers and having his head dunked in toilets?  No ma’am.

It’s one thing to be a college athlete and get into a brawl – it happens all the time – but at least put up a fight.  I still can’t get over the fact that Clausen has two black eyes – after the first punch, he wasn’t able to defend himself and avoid the second?  Just a pathetic display from the quarterback of a pathetic program.  Now he looks like Charlie Weis if Weis went jogging without wearing a sports bra.

Gary Sheffield wants to keep playing so that he can reach 3,000 hits for his career.  Nothing like individual goals to get yourself motivated, but whatever.  Maybe Sheffield can help a team a little bit with depth, but Sheff may have a different idea of how valuable he is:

Sheffield would have to average 155.5 hits over two years to get to 3,000. He hasn’t had that many hits in a season since 2005 when he had 170 for the Yankees.

“I always played and never worried about numbers, but at some point career numbers jump out there. To get 3,000 hits is a big thing for me,” he said.

Sheffield said an American League team contacted him yesterday. There were whispers Texas might be interested once free agents Matt Holliday and Jason Bay set the market.

“They are talking about Vladimir Guerrero, but he is one dimensional,” Sheffield said of the Rangers and the Angels free agent. “I can play the outfield and I can move better. I can DH and still play the outfield and that helps because I can give guys breaks [in the outfield].”

“At the end of the day when they set the market, how much more are they worth than me?” Sheffield asked. “If you say they are worth three times more than me, then you don’t think I can play. They are not three times better than me.”

Look, Gary Sheffield had a great career and is a likely Hall of Famer.  Having said that (according to Larry David, this phrase allows me to nullify what I’ve just said), he’s not a productive player anymore.  He can’t do anything well and he’s constantly injured.

Are Jason Bay and Matt Holliday three times better than Sheffield?  Yes, which is why they’ll make at least three times more money than Sheffield will make.  At least.  I’m just waiting for Sheffield to be “disrespected” by a franchise that offers him a one-year, $1 million contract.  Because obviously, if you don’t want to sign Sheffield for big money, you’re racist.

Vince 3 bx

Call me crazy here but the Titans?  Hello?  I mean when a team starts off this bad and then they make one simple change at QB someone has to be called out here.

The Tennessee Titans are now 4-0 when Vince Young has started under center and the Titans believe that they can still make the playoffs after starting the season 0-6 and looking bad while they do it. [Via Mirror]

What exactly did Jeff Fisher and Kerry Collins have worked out?  It took 6 straight losses for them to realize that Collins just might not be the right man for the job anymore?  Put it this way.  I’ll give you games one and two.  The Titans didn’t lose by much and Kollins wasn’t horrible.

But these guys should have seen the signs starting in game 3.  Certainly after game 4.  Hell at least give Young a chance in game 5.  I guess it took a 59-0 pounding  to realize that maybe Collins is getting a tad old and crappy and should be put out for good?

So if the Titans miraculously make the playoffs I guess all is well in Tennessee but if not shouldn’t we shoulder the blame on Fisher?

Well I guess it’s hard to say anything bad about him.  After all, check out his wife – oh my bad, she’s not his wife anymore.  Women will cloud your judgment every time man.

Especially THESE women…..
