Ex-NBA baller Antoine Walker has worked out a deal to pay back the money he owes Las Vegas casinos:
LAS VEGAS — Former NBA all-star Antoine Walker has agreed to pay more than $900,000 to settle bad check charges with three Las Vegas casinos and avoid trial on felony criminal charges, a defense lawyer and prosecutor said Monday.
Walker wasn’t in court when his attorney, Jonathan Powell, described a plan for his client to pay a minimum of almost $13,000 a month over five years to settle a complaint stemming from casino debts at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort.
Powell on Monday described his 33-year-old, 6-foot-9 client as unemployed, but said he hopes to sign with a team in the U.S. or Europe. If he does, Walker promises to increase payments to almost $21,400 per month and finish the repayment plan within three years.
First off, people gamble at Planet Hollywood? Really? Is that place still open? Anyhow, ‘Toine could avoid slumming it on a crappy team in Europe and could instead work off his debts right there in Las Vegas. Look, people love seeing ‘Tione do the shimmy. It’s captivating. He should simply perform in the Vegas casinos, doing his shimmy on stage while wearing ridiculous outfits: a baby, a french maid, maybe a velociraptor or something. People would come from far and wide to watch a costumed Walker shake his shit, and in no time he could use the proceeds from his performances to help pay back his debts.
I refuse to believe that this plan wouldn’t work; the shimmy is simply that powerful. How else do you explain racist Boston fans tolerating a 6’9″ guy who shot like eight three-pointers a game for the Celtics all those years? If Walker never shimmied, he’d have been a Grizzly years ago. Or a Knick.
