But how much greener can they get? Check out some of these impressive marks.

His teams won 10 or more games for 14 consecutive seasons from 1987-2000 – a mark that is still considered the standard for excellence in major college football.

The Seminoles also won national championships in 1993 and 1999 and have played in a bowl game every year since 1982 – the longest active streak (28 years) in the nation.

Bowden experienced his lone perfect season in 1999 as the Seminoles became the first team to go wire-to-wire in The Associated Press poll ranked No. 1 from the preseason to finish.

Granted the Seminoles have been as disappointing as a badly cooked turkey on Thanksgiving (mine was delicious!), but do Seminole officials really think they can do better than Bowden? Perhaps the game has evolved past his skills and a change is needed, but to me, Bowden has achieved the standing of a coach who gets to go when he wants to go. Yeah, he’s retiring on his own, but I’m sure bitching fans played their part. Seminoles fans have been like the kid who after opening all of their presents simply says, “This is it?”

Too bad Coach Bowden is not only in the latter stages of his coaching career, but also his life, or it’d be nice to see him come back with a different team and rip the Seminoles a new one. Instead, the Seminoles will exemplify the incompetency of high school dropout and fans will wish for a bit more Bowden.
