Somehow, I have this unique ability to reinvent new ways to become a D-bag. One boring afternoon at work last week a buddy and I decided to put a little money on a soccer game to help me get through the day. Unknowingly, this gem was the lucky game I got involved in. Well I lost the bet and cursed the losing side, but it didn’t stop there. I decided to look for video evidence of the debacle.
After staring at the computer for 5 minutes with my mouth agape, I realized I was in over my head. I seriously don’t think my emotions have been at this intensity level in my entire existence. This game was bigger than me, and I interfered with something that looks to be “somewhat” important to some people and shouldn’t be tainted by mindless wagering. First, I want to take back the negative things I felt about Algeria’s Soccer Team. Second, I’m sorry.
Not only does the announcer make the guy who says, “Goooolll!!!” look disinterested, I’m pretty sure there was some religious or spiritual references in his rant. I totally underestimated the level of importance these games have for the teams and their respective countries. It’s actually pretty fascinating. I wouldn’t consider myself a soccer fan, my knowledge of the game is strictly from gambling and the women some of the stars date, but now I may actually tune into the World Cup in July.
By the way……. it didn’t appear as if anyone was alarmed by the huge FIRE the started in the stadium. What the hell was that?

I could very well be wrong, but the fire MIGHT have just been flares. I went to a few Chicago Fire games and the flares they light up can look like all Hell as broken loose from a distance.
Whatever that was, though, kicks the Fire’s ass.
I was raised against soccer, but now love it. Definitely watch the World Cup in June.
