After finishing yet another disappointment of a season at 6-6, the Irish are looking at a low bid. This, apparently, has started a debate amongst Irish fans as to whether or not they should accept a low bid.
Really?
I’ve got a phrase for you, Irish fans… Beggars can’t be choosers.
The suggestion that any school should decline a bowl invite is as illogical as smashing your head against a wall to get rid of a headache. Declining a bowl invite would only make a program look like the freshman in college who calls up their parents to increase their allowance. Nobody likes that kid.
Notre Dame is 6-6 and has earned that low bid. They should be glad that they’ll even get that much, since they are, after all, Notre Dame and can attract fans. I don’t care what their history is. Whether it’s Notre Dame or Southern Montana Tech A&M University, you accept the damn bid!
