Texas is facing Alabama for the BCS National Championship. (And in other news, it snows in a Cleveland December). But that doesn’t mean TCU, Cincinnati and Boise State didn’t get hosed in the process.

No. 3 TCU, No. 4 Cincinnati and No. 6 Boise State also finished undefeated. All three were included in the BCS, but none will play for the title, which will renew the annual debate about college football’s way of determining the best team in the land.

Yes, it will renew the debate. Fans of the above mentioned teams that got the proverbial shaft will bitch and moan whilst Alabama and Texas celebrate the fairness of the BCS system.

But hey! Take heart, fans of the shafted. The old saying life isn’t fair cruelly applies to your situation. If life were fair, poverty wouldn’t be a problem, I’d be a celebrated writer (rivaling Christopher Buckley and David Sedaris for satire and humor awards) and we’d have a college playoff system, so that teams don’t have to count on last second upsets (see almost Nebraska) in order to have a chance to have a chance at the BCS title.

Until then, count on having to complete an undefeated season AND having the top teams from the Big Ten, PAC-10, SEC, Big 12 etc. getting at least one loss. Because that happens every year…
