It wasn’t the easiest of victories last night for the Chargers. In fact it was a little weird given they only squeaked by the Browns but they got it done. And not without some historical significance:
Tomlinson’s TD with 5:58 left in the third put the Chargers up by 20, and placed him in elite company. He reached 150 TDs faster than any player, hitting the milestone in his 137th game. Emmitt Smith needed 160 games to reach 150 and Jerry Rice didn’t score his 150th until his 167th.In the fourth, Tomlinson passed Brown on an 11-yard burst up the middle. After pushing past Cleveland’s legendary No. 32, San Diego’s running back pointed toward the 73-year-old Brown who was sitting in a luxury suite. He patted his heart and offered a salute to Brown.
Pretty badass that Brown was there in the stands. Man, talk about two amazing athletes huh? Even though Tomlinson is clearly on a huge downswing in his career let us not forget how superhuman the man was just 3-4 short years ago. The guy is really like a suped up Marshall Faulk. Mr. all purpose yards.
Tomlinson is far and away the best cutback runner in the history of the NFL and definitely a top 5 running back (maybe top 3). So I just wanted to give out a fond congrats to LDT. A great running back and from what I’m told an even greater guy.
Here are some of LDT’s best moments
