COLLEGE FOOTBALL FOOD BOWLS!

Alright, I’ve heard enough about the “BCS”. College football needs a playoff system, but they can’t get rid of the BCS because those involved make serious coin, blah blah blah.  It’s about time we paid attention to the little guys. The other bowls need some love too.  I am going to make some lucky sponsor glad they are involved in a bowl game this year by using their game to decide where I am going to get dinner Friday night.  So today we have the following BOWLS going head-to-head………

Bowl 1: THE LITTLE CAESARS PIZZA BOWL

Bowl 2: THE CHICK-FIL-A BOWL

Bowl 3: THE OUTBACK BOWL

Bowl 4: THE PAPAJOHNS.COM BOWL

Here we go…..

The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.  Marshall vs. Ohio University

Well, I’ve actually never had Little Caesars Pizza, but their commercials are pretty good. I can’t really see this Bowl being a huge draw. It’s on ESPN, but I have a hard time believing Little Caesars first quarter sales are going to be up because of this game. As for the teams, Ohio lost the MAC Championship to Central Michigan and Marshall actually played college football this year. Marshall got spanked by any good team and finished .500 in C-USA. Ohio is a pretty decent squad, their only respectable game was a loss to UCONN.  Right now the Little Caesars brass is telling their families it’s going to be a light Christmas this year.

The Chick-Fil-A Bowl

Thursday, December 31, 2009 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Virginia Tech vs. Tennessee

Chick-Fil-A is enjoyable. I don’t frequent the place, but it’s pretty good. Their commercials kind of suck. As for the teams, this has potential, key word potential, to be a good game. Va Tech has been one of the better teams in the nation all year with losses to ‘Bama, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina. Tennessee is an anomaly. They can beat good teams and lose to crappy teams. They don’t really have a stellar win, but they were HIGHLY competitive against Florida and ‘Bama. These two teams have pretty good defenses and should put up a good fight. They are losing points because Lane Kiffin is a jerkoff and every guy who every graduated from Va. Tech has a prison record.

The Outback Bowl

Friday, January 1, 2010 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Northwestern vs. Auburn

Outback is a fine establishment. Once again, I’m not a regular, but have really enjoyed my time there. Northwestern and Auburn get a New Years Day bowl, eh? Well, Northwestern was buoyed by their strong finish. They did lose to Greg Paulus’ Orangeman. Without the big finish they’d be in the Kaboom! Tile Cleaner Bowl. I have really enjoyed watching Auburn and betting on their overs. Fact is they just aren’t that good. They started off undefeated because they didn’t play anybody, and then lost to every good team they played for the most part. Could be an exciting game because both teams have weak defenses. Bet the over, take the winnings to Outback.

The PapaJohns.com Bowl

Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. UCONN vs. South Carolina.

I don’t think I’ve ever dined at Papa John’s, so if I have it obviously wasn’t that memorable. Their commercials REALLY suck.  South Carolina is another team that you would think would be pretty good, they knocked off Ole Miss when they were ranked 4th (didn’t last long), but pretty much lost to most of the great teams they played. The win against Clemson was pretty good, it was home though. They aren’t very glamorous on offense, rely more on defense, and if Steve Spurrier didn’t coach them they wouldn’t get nearly as much respect. UCONN might actually be slightly intriguing. They haven’t beaten anybody. They’ve lost to some decent teams by close scores. They did beat Notre Dame (LOL). Pretty two contrasting teams though as UCONN has scored almost twice the amount of TDs as South Carolina, but have also given up almost double the TDs. Another chance for the Big East to continue to gain respect.

Well after carefully reviewing the Bowls and the teams, I’ve decided to go to Papa John’s. By and large, none of these games blow my skirt up, but I have the most interest in UCONN vs. South Carolina partly because BIG EAST vs. SEC. After all UCONN has been through this year, I want to watch their final game. I like Randy Edsall, and I would like to see the Big East make some noise here.  Tech and Tennessee were a close runner up, but lost because of the Lane Kiffin factor. I’m going to go to Little Caesars too,  because I feel bad.
