Suh is NOT going to win the Heisman. I’ll give him some burn because he’ll most likely finish last in voting even though he deserves better. This guy is an absolute manchild. If you haven’t had the pleasure of watching him play this year, you’ve missed out on some serious domination. The guys statistics are excellent, and he was the anchor to the second best scoring defense in the nation. By now everyone knows what he did in the BIG 12 championship 4.5 sacks and 12 tackles. Freakish size and speed.
Since I’ve been born only 1 defensive player has won the Heisman Trophy. Hell, the guy is holding a football. The award is made for offensive players. How do you compare apples to oranges? Texas had the 4th ranked scoring offense, Stanford 10th, Florida was 14th, and Bama was 27th respectively. As I said before Nebraska had the second best scoring defense in the nation. I’m not a particularly big fan of raising debates that cannot be solved, but the fact is defensive players are at a serious disadvantage when it comes to the Heisman. By definition, the award is given to the most outstanding player in College Football. Are any of these guys more outstanding than Ndamukong Suh?
If you subtracted each Heisman Trophy candidate from their respective teams who would have the most negative impact? Probably Tebow. Which candidate would you guess will have the most productive pro career? Probably Suh. If you put each of the candidates on Western Kentucky(0-12) who would have the most impact? This is the tricky question. I have no doubt Suh would still be the dominant player he is and put up the numbers, but Tebow or McCoy would have a bigger impact making the team better.
Offense gets all the love. I am just as guilty as the next guy. I love scoring and big numbers, but I think the offensive players are more a product of the 10 guys around them than the defensive players. There is no way of telling which impact player effected their respective offense or defense the most. Gerhart is my prediction to win, but Suh is the Most Outstanding Player in College Football.
