The South Florida Bulls aren’t making headlines like they did a few years back when it was due to winning games. So Coach Levitt decided to take things into his own hands… literally.

University of South Florida coach Jim Leavitt grabbed a player by the throat then struck him twice in the face during halftime of the Bulls’ Nov. 21 game with Louisville, the player’s father, his high school coach and five members of USF’s football program told FanHouse.

Personally, I’d need to know how hard the slap was before passing judgment. Was it a love tap or essentially a punch? Either way, he’s a football player! This guy gets hit all the time!

“You do something like that [on the street], you put them in jail,” Paul Miller, Joel’s father and a former Tampa police officer, told FanHouse. “Somewhere [Leavitt] crossed the line.”

Now I’m not agreeing with the slap, BUT if you’re going to say a slap would land someone in jail, then wouldn’t you have to agree that tackling a stranger to the ground would also land one in jail? The things football players do on the feel aren’t exactly proper etiquette in real life.

The kid’s Cop-Dad should be writing citations for the action on the field if he’s going to take offense over a slap.
