The guy on the right? He he’s still around. He’s an important role player on a team that will make the playoffs and might actually do something. Sure he’s been decimated by injuries throughout his career but his resurgence is something to merit. Plus he isn’t just 30 years old.
The guy on the left? He’s 30? What? I mean, like really only 30? It feels like Tracy McGrady is at least 50 years old at this point. And I would say it’s sad and all but let’s face it, he’s made a ton of money over the years and really only has to play like 20 games a year. Or at least it feels that way.
I mean what happened to this guy? Remember how good he used to be? Think about the days he was on the Raptors. Even in the dunk contest when he was a high flier.
I mean when was the last time you actually thought to yourself “damn T-Mac is really good.” I’m really amazed that stuff like this happens. But you know something? I’m convinced there’s a part of McGrady that just doesn’t give a shit. I feel like he’s the type of player that goes out there and says “I’m gonna get mine” and calls it a day.
Grant Hill worked his ass off to get back from his injuries. I have no proof but something tells me that conditioning probably isn’t McGrady’s greatest asset. Look, some players are just injury prone and I’m sure a lot of that is true with McGrady, but I don’t know. I’d like to really find out how hard he works on his body. I think he knows how talented he is and that’s just “good enough” for him.
I feel like he’s headed to Europe and that’s just sad. At 30 he could easily resurrect himself and become relevant again. I’m just not sure he cares.
