Patriots Texans Football

Last week, I wrote that despite all the crybabies in the media and amongst NFL fans, the Colts did nothing wrong by benching their starters in preparation for the playoffs.  I hate that an injury has to occur to strengthen my point, but then again, I should have counted on it.  After all, I’m usually right about these things.

It is confirmed: Wes Welker has torn both the ACL and MCL in his left knee.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter originally reported the news.

Welker’s knee buckled while making a cut on his only catch of the day, in the first quarter. He was on the field for several minutes, then on the bench, where numerous teammates came by to offer support.

He was then carted off the field, a towel covering his face.

And just like that, the Patriots don’t look so tough in the postseason anymore.  You see?  Things like this DO happen, and the only way to avoid it is to keep your best players off the field once playoff seeds have been decided.  Anthony Gonzalez hasn’t played a fucking down for the Colts this season due to a knee injury that he suffered during the first game of the season…without ever being touched.  Guys simply get hurt out there on the football field, and it’s not cowardly or chickenshit to bench them in preparation for the playoffs.  Nope, it’s common sense.

Five Pats starters were inactive for this game, but not Welker.  I bet Pats fans wish that he was.

I still think what the Colts did was total Hogwash!! My reasoning… The very next week they have the starters in so Peyton can start his 100th consecutive game, so Dallas Clark can have his 100th catch, so Reggie Wayne can have his 100th catch. The last time I checked Football was a team sport!

The Indianapolis Colts could have gone down in history as THE best TEAM ever by going undefeated. Now they go down in history as THE biggest Farce of INDIVIDUALS.

When you sign that contract you know you’re putting your body at risk, you know injuries are inevitable, thats why you’re paid so well. An injury like the one Wes Welker sustained can happen anytime in the training room, at Training camp, in warm-ups, practice etc…

These guys (I reiterate) make a ton of money to play a game. they should stop their Cry Baby acts and get on the fields and give the PAYING FANS what they deserve.

Disagreed with you the other day and still do, by the way I’m a Patriots fan from NE. The NFL is a product that people pay good money to watch and watching a bunch of scrubs run around the field for two, three or more games to save the starters is ridiculous. If injuries are the main concern then break up the NFL and put tennis courts in the middle of the stadiums instead, problem solved,no injuries. Play the game, especially when a team like the Colts has a chance to make football history. Welker played 15 games before he got hurt,Tom Brady played less then 1 game last year before he got hurt,it’s just the way the cookie crumbles !!!

Screw what the media thinks, it’s what the owners and coach wants that matters. Nothing else.
