This reminds me of the scene in The Ten where Ken Marino’s defense to killing a patient was that it was “just a goof.”
Arenas said he took the unloaded guns out of his locker on Dec. 21 “in a misguided effort to play a joke on a teammate.” He denied threatening or assaulting anyone. The New York Post has reported that Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other.
“Joke or not, I now recognize that what I did was a mistake and was wrong,” Arenas said. “I should not have brought the guns to DC in the first place, and I now realize that there’s no such thing as joking around when it comes to guns—even if unloaded.”
It goes without saying that humor is entirely subjective, but Jesus Christ, Gil – that’s really a hell of a joke to play on someone. If the “joke” in question involves firearms pointed at someone’s face, I think it’s safe to say it’s going a bit too far. I’m sure Crittenton didn’t find it funny, which is why he, too, turned violent, just as I wouldn’t think it was funny as I was sitting in a concoction of my own piss and shit.
If you want to mess with someone, don’t point a gun at his face. No, just run up to them and in a panic, ask them the date. When they tell you, say, “no…what year?” Works every time.
