Dallas fans are getting pretty worked up over the fact that Eagles writer Dave Spadaro spit on the Cowboys’ star on the middle of the Dallas field.  I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not – people are morons with horrible priorities and often value respect toward their sports teams higher than things like education and work ethic.  Anyway, Spadaro has since apologized.

“As you may have seen, I went too far with my Spudcam video prior to Sunday’s game against the Cowboys,” Spadaro writes.  “Acting alone, and without permission from the Eagles organization, I walked out to the middle of the field at Cowboys Stadium and spit on the Cowboys star, and for that I deeply apologize to the outstanding Cowboys organization and the fine people there, from Jerry Jones to the rest of the team.”

I hope Spadaro had a big grin on his face while giving this apology, because it’s a total joke.  I’m guessing he doesn’t mean it, but that doesn’t make him a bad guy – he shouldn’t have apologized in the first place.  If people in Dallas are going to get all bent out of shape because some writer from Philadelphia put some of his saliva on a colored patch of grass on the Cowboys’ field, they should be euthanized.  Seriously – it’s some spit on some grass in Dallas.  Get the fuck over it.  But no, it’s a personal affront and the highest level of disrespect imaginable, right?  I’m as big a Gators fan as you will find, but if someone took a shit on the big “F” in the middle of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and then pissed all over it, I’d probably have a good laugh.

As an aside, of course the writer was from classy Philadelphia.  If I had to pick one city from which a guy would spit on the Dallas star, I’d pick Philly in less than a nanosecond.  Really, could there be two more unlikeable teams playing against each other this weekend other than Dallas and Philly?  It’s a real shame that one of them has to win.
