Funny because this has nothing to do with the fact that Williams was just parading around New York before crashing into a pole last week.
Former NBA star Jayson Williams is expected to plead guilty this morning in a deal that will mean 18 months in jail for the 2002 death of a limousine driver, according to a person close to the case.
Williams, 41, was already scheduled to appear today before Superior Court Judge Edward Coleman in Somerville to learn whether the judge would allow his lawyers to withdraw from the case.
18 months. I’m amazed. Allow lawyers to withdraw from the case? Does this even exist? What the hell is wrong with the NBA? Is it me or does it seem like every single year there’s some bullshit with crime going on. Honestly I’m not 100% sure what the league needs to do but Stern, you gotta get these boys in check.
I know it’s not easy as many of these players go from zero to millions but Jesus. You know something? Guess who seems to be the smartest guy out of all of this: Brandon Jennings. That’s right. Jennings. Why? Think about it.
Jennings went to Europe where he was a boy amongst men. He was probably exposed to family life, European culture, and not being a stupid dumb punk who is going to spend all his millions and have an awful NBA after life.
No, I’m not saying all NBA players are like this but I am saying it’s an obvious problem in the league. Perhaps sending guys out into the real world for a year abroad is something to be embraced.
Because Lord knows our college system isn’t helpful. The NCAA is all about money as well. Don’t ever forget that people. And if you think NCAA players are getting “educated” think again. Brandon Jennings is the one with real world experience.
Having people take tests for you and having easy classes while banging hot chicks just for scoring 20 and 10 while making money for your alumni isn’t exactly the real world.
Wait, we were talking about Jayson Williams right? Guy is an asshole.
