Tyreke Evans puts up a questionable shot here (although the announcer calls that it’s a heat check, so maybe it’s excusable) that misses pretty badly.  J.R. Smith, though, for whatever reason, thinks that it’s a swish and takes the ball out of bounds.  Not exactly a heady play.

And even though this is a moronic play by Smith, I can’t say I’m that surprised.  J.R. Smith isn’t one of the guys that comes to mind when someone mentions “basketball IQ,” let alone plain old “IQ.”  He’s got all the athleticism in the world, but his Lennie Small brain prevents him from being anything more than a guy who can score in bunches once every four games.

If this were a playground rim with no net, I suppose I could understand.  But this is an NBA rim with a standard net in a well-lit arena.  Get more tattoos.
