Jesus, is American Idol really still this popular?

Larry Platt, better known to millions of Americans as the “Pants on the Ground” guy, met with the Vikings hours before the team was set to play in the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints.

Platt became an overnight sensation earlier this month when he performed his song for the judges on “American Idol.” Since then it has spawned countless imitators, including Brett Favre, who sang the song in the Vikings’ locker room after the team’s divisional playoff win last week. Favre’s rendition led to Sunday’s visit, which was reportedly set up by coach Brad Childress.

Unlike Pedro Martinez’s midget, Platt wasn’t able to provide the Vikes with any luck heading into the NFC Championship Game.  Still, that’s pretty cool of Childress to invite Platt to visit the Vikings on Sunday.  It must have been awesome for Platt, and it seems like the players all got a real big kick out of it.  I still have no idea what all the fuss is about.  You can watch a video of Platt’s “performance” after the jump.
