JOHN WALL DON’T NEED NO COACHING

Some people just love to exaggerate.  Either John Wall is one of those people and this is all a lot of buzz other nothing, or he’s kind of an asshole whose backpedaling over his words.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP)—Kentucky star John Wall insists he “loves” coach John Calipari and the freshman guard says his complaint following a win over Vanderbilt last weekend that he wasn’t having any fun was simply a sign of frustration.

Wall received pointed criticism from Calipari following a 68-62 loss at South Carolina last week, even though Wall said he didn’t think he played that badly.

His frustration spilled over after scoring 13 points to go with nine assists and seven turnovers against the Commodores.

“I just try not to listen to him and go out and play basketball and try and help my team win,” Wall said Saturday.

The last thing a coach wants to hear is that his players aren’t listening to him, but in Calipari’s case, that’s probably not so bad.  After all, the slimebag practically shits recruiting violations and should be thanking the basketball gods that he’s somehow still able to coach, let alone for one of the top teams in the country.

Anyhow, John Wall is definitely good enough to simply go out and play basketball at this level without any coaching whatsoever, so I’m inclined to believe that he often does ignore Calipari and just goes out and plays.  Both he and Calipari are trying to clear this up now, but since Wall is headed to the NBA in just a few months, it’s not really a huge deal to either of them.  When Wall’s making millions of dollars and still doesn’t listen to his coach, then I think people are going to have a real problem with it.  Nobody likes insubordinate millionaires.

Part of me also thinks that Wall is just trying to sound cool, as if he doesn’t need any help to be a star.  Reminds me of a kid I knew who once claimed to have eaten four slices of pizza when in fact he only had two.  Nice try, pal, but I wasn’t fooled.  I know this is kind of different, but both pizza and Calipari are covered in grease, so I think it works.
