You can”t really blame him, can you?
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Longtime NBA coach Del Harris has resigned as an assistant coach with the New Jersey Nets.
The Nets issued a statement from Harris minutes after they lost 97-93 to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.
Harris joined the team in late November after general manager Kiki Vandeweghe was named the interim coach following the firing of Lawrence Frank after the Nets lost their first 17 games.
My guess is that Del Harris was probably helping to coach the Nets because he’s an NBA-lifer and just isn’t ready to leave basketball. No big expectations, no pressure – just helping some kids with the beautiful game of basketball. But even Leslie Nielsen Del Harris has to get sick of chronic losing, and at this point in his career, he just doesn’t need the crap.
Oh, and about the firing of Lawrence Frank – yeah, clearly he was the problem, not the players. Good thing he’s gone, maybe now the Nets can grab the 6th seed in the East.
