Almost every year, there’s that special low seeded team that captures the hearts and minds of the public with a couple upset victories in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, we weren’t blessed with a cinderella story, and don’t count on these teams to wear the slipper this year if they get in….

1.) Cornell

Cornell is the odds on favorite to come out of the Ivy league. Their appearance in the top 25 may eliminate them from cinderella consideration, but they lost this weekend and should settle in at around a 7-9 seed. With a couple of wins, that of course, would make them a cinderella story. The Ivy League does nothing to prepare a team for the NCAA tournament. They have no quality wins outside of conference and their RPI sucks. An Ivy team like this just won’t be able to bang with bigger, more athletic teams from the likes of the Big East and Big XXII. They played Kansas close in Lawrence, but don’t let that fool you. Cornell may win their first rounder, but don’t get to trigger happy.

2.) Siena

Siena is Jay Bilas’ sexy pick. Not me. I’ve followed Siena closely. They are winning, and slightly dominating a VERY VERY weak Metro Atlantic conference. Siena has beaten, hmmm, no one good outside of their conference. Like Cornell, they played Temple tight, but lost. They have some talented players, but this team just isn’t going to cut the mustard against mid-level power conference teams come tournament time. Siena’s RPI is better, but look at the schedule in and out of conference. Does anything get you excited?

3.) Kent State

Kent State may not even make it out of the MAC, but if they do don’t get a hard on for them because their a familiar name. Were dealing with the same formula here. Lesser teams from big conferences have owned them, and their conference itself sucks balls. The only difference is they have a little win against a good UAB team early on in the year. Other than that their schedule is the least inspiring of all of them.

4.) Charleston

Don’t get your lube out because they beat UNC at home earlier this season. We all know what UNC is this year. We also know that they caught them at the most opportune time with injuries. The news about Charleston is they stink away from home, good teams have banged on them, and their conference isn’t on the up and up this year. If they represent the Southern, they shouldn’t represent very long, the same might be said for Wofford, or not…..

We’ll take a look at some legit cinderella’s shortly………..
