For the first time in six years, the team that everyone – except me – loves to hate is back in the Final Four. Duke outlasted a very tough Baylor team yesterday, which is amazing considering Kyle Singler A.K.A. Cain from Poltergeist II was 0-10 from the field. It was really Duke’s backcourt of Scheyer and Smith that did just about all the damage, and if you watched the game, you’d probably agree with me that Duke’s bigs should have been ashamed of themselves. Baylor’s Udoh sent back 5 shots all by himself (Duke combined to block zero shots), most of them pathetic efforts by Duke’s frontcourt. It just goes to show that in March Madness, guard play rules all. Singler’s not going to have another game as abysmal as this one, so if Scheyer and Smith can keep this up, there’s no reason Duke can’t beat anyone. Who’d of thunk that the last #1 seed remaining would be Duke?
By the way, my favorite player on Baylor – just for his name – is LaceDarius Dunn. LaceDarius. Yeah, I know a lot of guys named LaceDarius. I’m pretty sure that’s my accountant’s first name.
