Because throwing like a girl for the whole country to see once apparently wasn’t enough:
WASHINGTON (AP)—Barack Obama will throw out the ceremonial first ball at the Washington Nationals’ opener, marking the 100th anniversary of a presidential pitch to start the season.
…
Obama threw out the first pitch at last year’s All-Star game in St. Louis, wearing a White Sox jacket. Noting that the Nationals host the White Sox this season for a three-game series June 18-20, Washington manager Jim Riggleman joked, “He’s going to be answering some tough questions about whether he’s a Nationals fan or a White Sox fan.”
Yeah, it’s gonna be tough to talk about team loyalty after getting dragged through the mud by the GOP over the past couple of years. Anyway, Obama’s pitch last year in St. Louis was pretty pathetic, a lazy one-hopper that bounced before it reached Albert Pujols. Say what you want about Bush as a president, but the guy fired a perfect strike from the rubber in Yankee Stadium right after 9/11. Meanwhile, I’ll be surprised if Obama can hit his target on the fly.
The best thing about Obama being present for the Nats opener is that no matter how much money fans paid for seats, they’ll all be sitting in the upper deck! It’s the fair, American way!
