This was a total clusterf%$k. I’ve never seen a manager outwardly rescind a decision like that. I mean he was two steps out of the dugout and just walked back in. It was an odd situation to begin with because first base wasn’t open. Either way, he had the right idea from the get go.

The good news is Girardi owned up to it….

“I screwed up,” Girardi admitted later. “I probably should have gone with my first instinct.”

You better believe the Steinbrenner’s wrote that down just in case they fire him for cause!

Interesting note.. Of all American League eligible hitters the two lowest batting averages belong to…. Mark Teixeira and Nick Johnson.
