All-Star A-Rod Rides The Pine

A-Rod got the nod from his manager for the 2010 All-Star Game. Aside from the festivities, that was about the extent of his participation. Joe Girardi, manager of the New York Yankees, elected to leave Alex Rodriguez on the bench the entire game. Judging by A-Rod’s comments, he was probably a little bummed about not getting in, but I’m sure everyone wants a chance to play on this stage……

Joe probably decided it was best—unless he really needed me—not to use me. But it’s not my first. I was ready to go in the sixth. It would have been fun, but maybe next time.

My stance on the situation is going to be as follows; old A-Rod would have made a huge stink out of this one. New A-Rod, handled it professionally. Not many people like A-Rod. We’re talking about, at one time, one of the biggest egomaniacs in the history of sports. However, I do believe Rodriguez has made a turn for the better. Despite the fact a lot of his talk about is teammates does conjure up doubts, Alex is no where near where he use to be.

One will always question how genuine his relationship is with his fellow teammates. I think he’s in a good place. He isn’t seeking out the limelight and just wants to be a part of a team that wins. Will he be in the news because he’s an avid dater these days… Sure. That’s just fine. I know the story gets beat to death about how he’s finally in a good place mentally, but the evidence is there. A few years ago, this situation doesn’t fly. Alex Rodriguez thinks you’re crazy to bench Alex Rodriguez in an All-Star Game. Not anymore.

Ha ha, spin it all you want, but the fact will never change that A-roid is the biggest douche bag in baseball.

Let’s review shall we.

1. Girardi bats Jeter 2nd in the order and puts C.C 9th. Yeah that makes sense, lol.

2. Girardi decides in all his infinite wisdon to bring in the mighty Phil Hughes to hold down a 1-0 lead instead of using one of his plethora of ridiculously good closers (Soriano, Valverde, Soria, Bailey)…..great managing, Joe! No, really. News flash, not everyone is a spankee fan.

3. Seems as though A-Roid was MIA in the dugout in the 9th, lol…you can clearly see Girardi yelling for him in the dugout….followed by an emphatic conversation filled with several hand waves and gestures between A-Roid and Cano. Hmmmm, is there dissension among the ranks of the pinstripes.
