As you’ve all probably heard by now Derek Jeter was voted the most marketable player in all of baseball.   First off, I’d like to congratulate Mr. Jeter on this feat.  Must be pretty cool to know you can probably make as much money off the field as on.  Not to mention the whole getting chicks factor.  Though I’d imagine just being a pro ball player helps in that department.

But what about guys that just totally suck?  Not necessarily as players but as people.  Guys that would have zero chance at attracting any kind of sponsor.  I’ve decided to come up with a list of seven players that would have zero chance at being marketed.

Enjoy!

John Rocker

Let’s just say there’s John Rocker and then there’s everyone else.   If you don’t know his story then please read it and then after that do a Google image search and you’ll be more than satisfied as to why this guy has zero marketability.

Carlos Zambrano

Seriously I have nothing to say other than “what an asshole.”

Mitch Williams

How the hell do you market a guy with that hair? Actually I think I might take this one back.   This guy should have been the poster child for professional wrestling.

Albert Belle

When you really think about it, Belle was like the Ron Artest of Major League Baseball before there was even a Ron Artest.  He was a great player sure, but the dude jumped into the stands to fight a heckler,  threw a ball at a fan, used a corked bat, probably took steroids, refused to talk to the media, and stalked women.  Marketable?  hardly.

Willie McGee

Wm3

This call was made by a buddy of mine.  It doesn’t really have much to do with Willie as a person.  He just happens to be possibly the ugliest player in the history of Major League Baseball.  Not gonna make it as a Wheaties cover guy any time soon.

Ty Cobb

ty-cobb-hof-1

“But we all hated the son of a bitch when he was alive so we told him to stick it! hahahahaha!”  That just about sums it up.   Players hated him.  Umpires hated him.  Most people that knew him hated him.  He may have been a great player but let’s just say Nike wouldn’t come knocking on the guy’s door.

Kevin Mitchell

alg_mitchell-then

He became widely known not only for his occasional brilliance on the field, but also for his unpredictable and sometimes volatile behavior off the field. After being released for the last time, he was arrested in 1999 for assaulting his father during an argument. Back in the minor leagues as manager of the Sonoma County Crushers in 2000, he was suspended for nine games after punching the opposing team’s owner in the mouth during a brawl

I’ll take Otis Nixon as the ugliest ballplayer ever!

Not a bad call at all! They’re both pretty bad.

In regards to the ugliest ball player… What about Marquis Grissom?

Know your baseball history, and do an image search for Don Mossi. Now *that* was ugly.

Americans have always had issues with the “melting pot” phenomenon…to point out John Rocker is not even close to fair…fact is the father of the author of this “article” probably had phobias and mistrust of his fellow americans that did not think and act the same way he did. A racist is a person who dislikes someone purely on the basis of skin….but EVERYONE is guilty at one time or another of being uncomfortable around people that are “different” from them on many levels. this is just human nature. I think New york DOES have a reputation of being a place that lacks class, in regard to the language the fans use, and the level of crudeness..but unfortunately that is spreading across the country. Obviously it would have wise for Rocker to overlook this but is he not entitled to his opinion.

First of all,WHAT THE H**L IS THAT UGLY,NASTY CRYPTO-KLANSMAN JOHN-BOY
ROCKER DOING WITH MY BABE???I mean,as a classically handsome,57-year-old black Canuck lad,I search EVERYWHERE for black gals with big hair, big boobs, great
bottoms and legs and who are flat-out curvy cowgirls and/or rocker/biker babes, and
THIS PROTOTYPICAL “TEA PARTIER” gets one of the few life-size Daisy dolls?
WHAT’S UP WITH THAT CRAP???

And the dude who thinks Willie McGee is the ugliest MLBer ever:Think again, buddy.
Granted,Willie Mac IS RUINED,but(here’s where it helps to be pushing 60,as I am),
have you ever gotten a look at Don Mossi? This VASTLY UNDER-RATED 50′S and 60′s-
era pitcher toiled for my Detroit Tigers when I was a little wrangler(as opposed to the
5’8”,214 lb.,steer wrestler/”bull-dogger” built[I boast 18'' biceps amongst my measure-
ments!!!],2010 cowboy stud),and was the poster boy for gruesome-looking players:
Though skinny,Mossi seeming lacked a neck, his skin was rutted with acne, his ears were so large that he was described as resembling “a cab with going down the street
with its doors open,”in the words of one opponent, who himself did not exactly resemble Brad or George in the handsome older lad department, and he had a
giant schnozz!!!So,why don’t some of you younger dudes Google Mossi before
calling a modern player “ugly?”
