donovan-debut

Unathletic dropped the story on Manchester City pursuing Landon Donovan on June 28, 2010. It’s now almost a month later and there has still been no serious action. What gives? Well, reporting now states that Manchester City is almost near finalizing a deal with Donovan and the MLS. The problem…. Don Garber, the chief of Major League Soccer has said they are not entertaining offers for Landon Donovan.

Well, the offer is going to be above market value from Arabian Billionaire Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Estimates price Landon Donovan’s international value around $7-10 Million. Manchester City is prepared to offer in the neighborhood of $15 million. This offer should be enough to close the deal. Right? Well, maybe not.

I expect to see Donovan suited up for Manchester City within the next few weeks. Not that money means a thing to the Sheikh, but he will be playing close to $25 million for a guy that most likely won’t even start. Manchester City has a loaded roster and Donovan doesn’t seem to fit in the starting 11.  The good news for Donovan who makes over $2 million with the Galaxy should make around $7 million with Man. City. We will sit and wait patiently, but I expect to see it done soon.
