A week ago Baltimore Ravens rookie Sergio Kindle was hospitalized for falling down a stair case. The result of the fall was a fractured skull. Kindle will miss camp and maybe a whole heck of a lot more this season. Obviously, this is a scary injury for a football player. Immediately, because of the stellar reputation the NFL has, one would think there was foul play involved. Maybe it was really a fight? Maybe he was wasted and fell? Well, his former head coach at the University of Texas offered this via Chip Brown’s Twitter….
Mack Brown has been in touch w/ Sergio Kindle’s family. Says SK will be fine but says “narcolepsy” might have caused fall down stairs.
Apparently, there was rumor of the condition before the draft, but Ozzie Newsome disregarded the disorder and still selected Kindle. Well, this is a new one. Our concern is certainly with Kindle and his family. Narcolepsy is no joke. What if he falls asleep during a game? He intercepts the ball takes it 80 yards and falls asleep on the 5 before the end zone. I’m pretty sure that would make the highlight reel. The disorder didn’t affect him in any college games, but it certainly plays a role off the field as it was noted he would fall asleep during team meetings often. This is certainly one of the stranger cases I’ve come across. I hope he recovers quickly and is able to play some football. He’s a heck of a talent, definitely worth staying awake for.
