He’s started, seemingly intentionally, the removal of one of England’s most decorated athletes from the national spotlight. Using the excuse of age, Capello insisted that Becks isn’t eligible to play in the 2012 Euro qualilfiers.
All is not lost for Becks in England, however. West Ham co-chairman David Gold has extended Beckham an open invitation to join the Hammers as either a player on loan or a club ambassador. Gold said,

We also had in mind his value as an ambassador to help us with securing the Olympic Stadium. He was an ambassador for the 2012 bid and is doing the same for the 2018 World Cup
It would be a difficult task with Beckham’s current commitment to the Galaxy, but if we’re talking strategy for Beckham it is something he must consider. Capello, perhaps feeling threatened, has removed David Beckham from English Soccer. How does he make a triumphant return? How does he prove the English coach’s assessment of his value to the national team is wrong? West Ham could be that foot-in-the-door opportunity he’s looking for………..
