College football starts this Thursday after what seemed like the forever. What’s not to love about college football season. There should be some great story lines this year with some traditional powers falling off, the rise of mid-major teams, and the return of Notre Dame. With all of that, here our Unathletic’s 5 guys who will be there at the end of the Heisman Trophy race.

1.) Mark Ingram

Ok, let me get this one in quick. You have to include the guy who won last year. Especially, when his offense looks better than last year. You can’t, by any stretch, overlook Ingram even though he is hurt. I know it’s boring, despite the injury he still has to be considered

2.) Terrelle Pryor

I went with Pryor over Locker here. Pryor is a freak athlete on, maybe, the best team in College Football. He started to show his skill toward the end of the year, especially in the Rose Bowl. Pryor to Posey. Get use to it.

3.) Evan Royster

This is a sexy pick right here. Penn State’s Evan Royster is going to see the ball a lot. He has a veteran offensive line. There is always a guy nobody really acknowledges at the beginning of the season, and this is the guy. His numbers should be excellent, and he should be in the race.

4.) Ryan Mallet

Mallet is my pick. I don’t like how everyone is sweating him, but how can you not. He’s got a lazer arm, TONS of offensive options, and the offense to put up huge numbers. The writing is on the wall. If Arkansas can win some games, he’ll be there.

5.) Kellen Moore

Wins.. Check.. Numbers.. Check.. I have no other choice, but to put Moore up here. He looks like a strong candidate to head to New York.

Honorable Mention:

Jerrod Johnson – Man crush on this guy. Should score points and points and points
Quizz Rodgers – Should be a human-highlight film and have the numbers.
Dion Lewis – If he improves from last year, umm, his numbers will be ridiculous.
Case Keenum – Have to throw his name in here simply because he’ll put up freak numbers.

Are you kidding me? No Jake Locker? I’m a Washington State fan and have ZERO love for the Huskies. Man, do I mean zero. How can you leave the possible #1 pick in the 2011 draft off this list? You have 3 QB’s on the list and say you went with Pryor over Locker but didn’t even give him an HM? Wow. And the only Pac 10 player is Quizz? Dude, do some research for the next list you make.

If you wanna crown him then crown him. I do do my research buddy, and Locker is a “favorite” that I think will let down… Pac-10 is beat dude

Let’s hope now that Houston “We have a problem” Nutt is a Rebel & we have Petrino & a QB that isn’t afraid to throw the ball that Arkansas won’t get the shaft come Heisman time. D-Mac should’ve won a few years ago……Now it’s time for Ryan, Joe, DeMarcus, Ben & the rest of our boys to show what the Hogs are made of.
