We’ve already crowned regular season division champs, and the first round playoff winners with champagne (or ginger ale) celebrations. Baseball seems to go a little overboard with celebrations. For some reason, it’s the only sport that really highlights the post game champagne showers.
After seeming plenty of them already this year, I’m not really feeling a lot of things about it. Let me know what you think, but I’m starting to think teams need to wait until the World Series for the big celebration.
Here are 5 things, if celebrations must stay, that need to change……
1.) The Interview Interruption

Doesn’t it seem like every time a guy is getting interviewed his teammates come over and hose him with champagne interrupting the interview. I guess it’s some unspoken protocol, but it’s as predictable as the tides.
2.) The Damn Goggles

I’ve never taken champagne to the eyes, but does it sting that bad? I mean nowadays players are wearing goggles, ski masks, gas masks whatever to protect themselves. Pampered stars.
3.) The Random Guys celebrating

This isn’t as bad as the others, but I have a small problem with the random guy spazzing out with champagne. I can let this one slide. They’re all on the team.
4.) The pre-made shirts and hats

You get a shirt, a hat, a whatever after every little victory. It’s too damn excessive. The best part about it is, the team that loses usually ships the clothes to third world countries. A very nice gesture by the club, but somewhere in the world there is a kid wearing a 2009 Phillies World Champions shirt.
5.) Watching Guys You Hate celebrate

Don’t you just love watching guys you can’t stand celebrate… Another one we can’t do much about but it still sucks.
