There are plenty of stories in the NBA this year.  It happens all the time.   We find reasons to get psyched and amped up about whatever it is we’re going to decide to get amped up about.   This year I think we’re clearly going to be monitoring the Heat situation and how that fares out.  Hopefully most of you are rooting against Lebron (while I’ll be individually rooting for D Wade).

And then there’s the run of the mill “will this team do well this year?” type of stuff i.e. can Oklahoma City turn some heads?  Will the Lakers repeat?

But me?  I’m looking for one player to come back and come back with a vengeance.   That player would be Yao Ming….

Remember folks, just a few short years ago Ming was one of the most dominant if not most dominant centers in the NBA.  And also, we can’t forget how much this man has done for the NBA internationally.  It’s because of Ming that not only China but other countries have become so much more involved with the organization.

And like celebrities, it’s as if Ming is non existent these days.   No, I don’t think the NBA is simply writing him off but honestly Ming has had more of a global impact on the game than any player since Michael Jordan.

I’ve heard and read that his minutes are going to be limited to start the season.  And lord knows that 300 lbs putting pressure on those feet isn’t going to be easy but I’m really pulling for the big guy.  He just seems like a nice dude.  He’s learned his English.  He’s humored us with his commercials.  If there’s one guy I’d actually like to see be the face of the league it’s Yao Ming.

Guy deserves to kick ass this year and I just wanted to say that I’m pulling for him (and the Rockets).
