Cheer_Fit_Cheerleaders_1

It’s a wonderful group of ladies these Cheer Fit Cheerleaders.   They’re this dance troup of sorts that are based out of the UK.  They make appearances at random events and do their thing.

They also teach classes, wear cutie pie outfits, and from the looks of it, make hornball teens out of older men.   Sounds like my kind of a cheerleading squad.

I’m afraid I’m just an older hornball myself.  Pics after the jump…

NBA Entertainment scored big with “Once Brothers”, the story of the Yugoslavian National Basketball Team break up and the friendship that was severed between Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic.

The documentary of the two best friends and teammates has been by far the best piece in the “30 for 30″ series. The series, like others, started out with it’s tagline… “What if I told you….”

So what if I told you a budding friendship rooted in national pride could be ripped apart by something completely beyond the control of the friends? That’s what happened to Vlade Divac and Drazen Petrovic when civil war broke out in Yugoslavia in the early 1990s. The two leaned on each other for support as teenagers and later as they made their journey into the best basketball league in the world, but the friendship was senselessly torn apart along with their former home country, Yugoslavia.

“Once Brothers” is a very emotional depiction of the journey that ended up in tragedy. My suggestion is to take an hour and a half and watch this documentary. You will not be disappointed.

Before I start, this article is by far more opinion than anything else.   But I guess if I were to make a definition I would say that badass in the context of this writing is a combination of success in your respective sport, overall “coolness,” and a quality that’s unspoken.

I can’t really explain it.  It’s like when you watch sports on TV and say “that guy’s a badass.”

Well the 80s weren’t all that badass but these athletes sure as hell were…..

Being in the Marching Band involves a lot of risk. You’re holding an instrument, you’re walking side-to-side and back peddling. I mean this is a high risk activity!

No wonder there have been several accidents over the years involving the marching band. I mean what can I say, there is already a stigma associated with being a bandie, and now you wipe out. Yes, I know, it’s a terrible fate.

I did play trumpet in 5th grade FYI…. take a look at the videos they are hilarious

Click on photo to read more about Lee’s domination

The year is 2007. Cliff Lee is 5-8 with a 6.29 ERA. For his career he’s probably somewhere in the high 4′s for ERA. 2008, Lee wins 22 games with a 2.54 ERA. Nobody is shouting steroids, nobody is slightly perplexed. It’s now 2010, Cliff Lee may never lose a playoff game in his life. As you were…

Science_Cheerleaders_4

These professional cheerleaders-turned-scientists and engineers challenge stereotypes while helping to inspire young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

At the USA Science and Engineering Festival, October 23-24 in D.C., these women will perform science-themed routines for thousands of people, conduct a free cheer clinic, and meet the public, sign their Science Cheerleader cards, and describe how they’ve bridged these two seemingly different worlds.

Here’s the lineup!

WomenLawless

This could be one of the most disturbing articles I’ve posted since the start of Unathletic. This person was born a man. In 2005, he underwent gender reassignment surgery to be a woman at the age of 52! Fifty fuckin two!

I’m not a gender reassignment advocate, but if you’re going to get it done don’t you think mid-twenties would be hot. The last thing we need is grandmas getting reassigned their gender.

Long story short, this person does the long drive contests that the beefy men do. Long Drivers of America decided to change their policy to mirror that of the LPGA, and now she can’t compete. So now she is suing.

First, Long Drivers of America. That really exists? Pretty creative name. Second, the LPGA actually had to put in their rule books that a dude who becomes a chick can’t play. What is this world coming to…..
