Duke

It’s time! NCAA preseason tournaments! College Football! NFL Thanksgiving football! Amen.

Man, I love this time of year. College basketball starts this week. I am thrilled to death. Anything to save me from the bloody NBA. College basketball season comes in at the perfect time. I love the tournaments around Thanksgiving. This is going to be awesome.

With the season about to tip off, Unathletic is going to lay out it’s Final Four picks for this season. My predictions are either right on point, or in no man’s land. Here we goooo….

1.) Duke

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way. The Champs are back, and better than ever. They lost Scheyer and Zoubek, but they welcomed in transfer Seth Curry (Stephen Curry’s bro) and top recruit Kyrie Irving. Singler, Nolan Smith, and the Plumlee’s all return. This squad is built for the Final Four.

2.) Kansas State

All-American candidate Jacob Pullen is back and K-State is scary good. They are big and athletic. They’ll struggle to score sometimes, but they can be a force with their size and athleticism.  They are a little young, which may hurt them, but they have a hell of a team.

2.) Pittsburgh

I hate picking Pittsburgh because they’ve had a history of being offensively challenged. They play great defense, but they have trouble scoring. This year I think their offense is talented enough to get them over the hump. They’ve got a ton of returning players with some young studs. I mean studs. They have size and can bang with the best of them. I am bullish on Pitt this year. I also love Jamie Dixon as a coach.

4.) Gonzaga

We got our mid-major!! Not really. Gonzaga looks to be back in the National scene this season. We got 4 starters back from a 27 win team. With a little luck, Steven Gray and Gonzaga could have their best team yet. I like the Zags to make a move toward the end of the year this season.
