I hope to God this isn’t real. Imagine if it was though, and the dude is sitting there with all his co-workers when his wife says that…

Let’s head out to the land of doors always being open and free health care…Canada.    Eh?  Eh?  Well here’s a cheerleader (and some of her teammates) from West Ontario college or whatever they call their universities up there.

Here name is Kyla Ritchie and if someday she comes down from the north perhaps she’ll get a spot in Sports Illustrated.  She clearly deserves it.  As for now she’ll have to settle for being on this site.

Derek Jeter is a free agent. If there is anyone on this planet who doesn’t think he will resign with the Yankees please raise your hand. Those of you with your hands up say,”I’m clueless” 25 times. I realize Jeter is aging, and I realize his numbers were down, but the Yankees will appease the Captain with a contract to finish his career in New York undoubtedly. Imagine the fan backlash if they didn’t?

Young Steinbrenner, once again trying to be like his late father, told Michael Kay on ESPN 1050 yesterday when asked how he foresaw the negotiations going…

You just never know with these things. Both parties need to be happy with the deal, and that may make things more complicated, I don’t know. There’s always the possibility that things could get messy.

So the minute every reporter heard messy they start making a huge fuss. Nothing is going to be messy. There aren’t going to be any problems. Jeter will be overpaid by the Yankees, but he’s earned the right to be overpaid, and it’s the Yankees. Again, nothing is going to get messy

I’m not sure how lucrative the boxing business is these days but I do know this:  there hasn’t been a polarizing heavyweight in boxing since Lennox Lewis and that feels like ages ago.   And now that guys like Evander Holyfield are 80 and still bustling around out there, I’m not sure there’s anything interesting in the heavyweight division.  Is is just the fact that there’s no one in this division worth writing home about?

I feel like middleweights and even lightweights can draw a big crowd but the heavyweight division absolutely sucks.  Who in the hell are these guys?  With all due respect, a white dude is the champ?  I mean two white dudes? And it’s not exploited more?  How is this possible?

What is the boxing community doing out there?  Are they embracing the UFC?  I just feel like something is amiss…..

Street_luge_3

I had no idea how popular Street Luge is today. People go bonkers about this.. um sport, I guess? There is all types of gear and it isn’t cheap. Here’s the problem; as we document these “extreme” sports the highlights are always CRASHES. Accidents, falls, injuries ARE the highlights. Tonight on Sportscenter you’re going to see touchdowns, home runs, goals, etc. Not in these sports, if nothing gnarly happens there is nothing to report. On that token, here are some wicked Street Luge crashes. You can cross this activity off my list too….

World Series Giants Rangers Baseball

Click on photo to read more about the SF Giants Winning the World Series

Thank goodness the World Series is over. I started feeling bad for MLB and the lack of viewership. I’m not sure how I can consider myself a huge baseball fan, and admit I only watched about an hour total of the World Series.

You can’t bail in the middle of the game. You need to recharge your batteries every couple of second when you got to take a leak ya know. Nothing wrong with a little jig to keep yourself focused on the task at hand.  You just gotta keep your head on a swivel because there are people around.

Colonials_Cheerleaders_1

Ah yes the life of a semi pro football league cheerleader.  Must have sucked for these girls a few weeks ago.  A couple of Saturdays ago in Hartford it was perfect fall football weather: mid 50s and breezy.  Maybe not so perfect for cheerleading though. The Colonials Cheerleaders had to grin while shivering and with wind gusts up to thirty mph, it was a challenge to keep smiling.

Eh, I kind of like that.  It’s nice to see a woman smiling even though you know it’s cold.  It warms my heart.  That’s for sure.

More pics after the jump…
