On Mike & Mike this morning they drew comparisons between Cliff Lee and Lebron James. Both guys took less money, both guys decided to play for a team that gave them the best chance to win. Unfortunately, I’m not feeling the comparison. It’s apples to oranges. Lebron’s the best player in the game. Cliff Lee is not.
This, of course, gives the Phillies a ridiculous rotation. Put them in the World Series today. Crown ‘em! However….. If I am the Yankees and Rangers I’m not too upset about this. I know the Yankees need to win every year, but in the long run I believe losing out on Lee will help them. Lee’s a playoff marvel, but he’s 32 and just 3 years removed from pitching in the minor leagues. The Yankees were going to give him 7 years! 7…. are you crazy. The Rangers play in the AL West. They can make it to the dance without Cliff Lee. The Yankees may be golfing in October this year.
Kudos to the Phillies for the last minute steal. It’s a perfect fit. The jury is still out on Cliff Lee. Picking the National League was a smart choice my friend, but we’re on to you….
