Sal Alosi isn’t the devil. He seems like a decent enough guy, he just made a stupid mistake. We all have, right? Well, according to our research, his fine for his dumb mistake ($25,000) represents about 1/8 of his annual salary. I thought it would be less, but that is about the number depending on the team. Either way, that’s a big chunk of his annual salary, plus he’s suspended without pay.

What we decided to do was take a look at this fine and see what it would be like for some of the best professional sports stars. It was pretty interesting.

Take a look………..

(5) Alex Rodriguez – NY Yankees

A-rod’s 2010 annual Salary was $33,000,000. If Dustin Pedroia was trying to score on a sacrifice fly and A-rod tripped him, he’d be fined $4,125,000. Other fun facts: Rodriguez hit 30 home runs last year, that’s $1.1M per home run. A-rod would have to hit 4 home runs to cover his Alosi fine.

(4) Sidney Crosby – Pittsburgh Penguins

Sidney Crosby makes $9,000,000 a year. If Crosby happened to stick out his skate on an Ovechkin breakaway and trip him, his Alosi fine would be $1,125,000. In 2009, Crosby scored 51 goals, which means he gets paid $176,470.00 per goal. If Sid can net six goals, he can trip the hell out of Ovechkin.

(3) James Harrison – Pittsburgh Steelers

James Harrison’s contract is a logistical nightmare. Lets just say for the purpose of this blog his annual salary in 2010 is $8,500,000. If Tom Brady was frolicking down the sideline in the AFC Championship game, and Harrison decided to avoid a head-to-head hit and trip him his Alosi fine would be…. $1,062,500. Harrison has accumulated 4 fines this season totalling $125,000. Harrison has to decapitate somebody 32 more times to truly know Sal Alosi’s pain.

(2) Chad Johnson – Cincinnati Bengals

Chad Ocho Cinco’s annual salary in 2010 is $4,750,000. In a random episode of selfishness, Carson Palmer launches a deep pass. As Ocho Cinco and T.O. race towards the ball, Chad trips T.O., hauls in the pass, and scores a touchdown. His fine…. $593,750.  Chad, being the ignoramous he is, was fined $25,000 for Tweeting during a game this year. If Chad goes Twitter crazy and sends out 25 more Tweets he’ll know what it’s like to be Sal.

(1) Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid

Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo makes 9 million Euros a year. The setting… Barcelona vs. Real Madrid. Ronaldo innocently trips Lionel Messi, and Messi puts forth the greatest acting flop ever witnessed in soccer. Ronaldo’s fine…1.125 Million Euros ($1.4 M for those keeping score at home). Last season Ronaldo received a two game ban and 600 Euro fine for a horrible red card. He slips up 1800 more times and he’s in Alosiville!
