There wasn’t much going on in terms of sports over the weekend. To be quite honest, I thought it was pretty pitiful. Regardless, if you were away or with family, we have your one stop shop for everything you want to know about the weekend in sports.

There was some college football and basketball, NFL, and NBA basketball.  Here are the top 5 stories from the Christmas weekend……

(5) Butler soundly wins Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii

There was some college basketball going on out in Hawaii again. The Diamond Head Classic had a decent field with the likes of Butler, Florida St., Baylor, and Washington St. Remember Butler? They can still play, and they put it together pretty nicely out on the island. They certainly aren’t the team they were last year, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to compete. The intrigue was Washington State was on the come up. 10-1. Butler rolled them in the final. The great thing about Butler’s success is they will always play a tough schedule out of conference making them a strong force in the tournament.

(4) The Knicks play defense… and win

The Knicks didn’t allow a field goal for a span of 8 minutes in the fourth quarter. Write that one down, because that won’t happen again all season.  They wore christmas colors, hell even Philip Seymour Hoffman was at the game. It was quite the occasion as the Knicks took down the Bulls.

(3) Tulsa and Hawaii score 97 points in 2010 Fun Bowl.

If you like scoring this was your bowl game. Tulsa upended  Hawaii 62-35. Both teams rolled up a total of 1070 yards. I like the fact Hawaii is relevant almost every year now. They were nationally ranked a couple times this year. They won’t finish that way, but they seem to have some talent to be back again next year. Fun game if you like track meets.

(2) LBJ has triple double, Miami Owns Lakers

The Miami Heat are who we thought they were. I don’t understand Lebron. I really don’t, and to be quite frank he pisses me off. The guy can easily dominate a game. If he had Michael’s mentality he would be destroying the NBA. Either he doesn’t care some nights, or he’s trying to be polite to Dwayne Wade and Co. He did that yesterday with ease. I don’t get him.

(1) The Cowboys lose because of missed PAT

If you hate the Cowboys this is your year. If you’re a Cowboy fan this must be insufferable. I understand that Romo is hurt so you can’t have great expectations. With that said, this has been ridiculous. Even the games they win they make it tough. Jerry Jones certainly didn’t look happy on Christmas in his booth Christmas night.
