It’s never to early to start planning for your NCAA Tournament bracket. If you want to win that office pool you have to pay attention all season. As we reach the mid-point of conference play, I’ve started to notice some teams that aren’t going to make it very far. With that said, could you tell me who’s going to win the tourney? Absolutely not. Your guess is as good as mine.
Here are 5 teams I can say with confidence won’t go as far as their seed suggests…..
I know it’s easily to get seduced by ‘Nova, but please don’t. They aren’t deep, they’re hot and cold, and they aren’t a very good defensive team. They aren’t a team that can overcome long, athletic, tough matchups. A cold shooting night and they’re doomed. Second round could be the max here kids.
The Aztecs will be ranked in the top ten pretty much all season. Don’t get me wrong, they’re awesome. They’re a great team, but they haven’t played annnnnnnnnnyyyyonnnnne. They get a tested team from the Big East or another power conference and they could be in for a shock exit. Be wary of them, they are not tested.
Stop Kemba, Stop UCONN. The problem is, it’s not that easy. UCONN has a lot of young inexperienced talent, and they would get shocked early because you never know where their head could be. If Kemba has a bad game, forget about it.
We all know how I feel about Big Ten basketball. Not the best league in the country. Illinois can go on some cold runs. I thought they’d be better than advertised. They certainly have talent, but with a crappy league and a team this inconsistent I can see them getting handled early on. (Maybe that Indiana loss is fresh in my head)
Dick Vitale and Jay Bilas both said to watch out for the Spartans come tourney time. Well… those guys probably know more than me, but enough is enough alreay. Izzo is a great coach, I love him, but the Sparties don’t have it this year. Team turmoil and underachievement will be the name of the game for them this year, don’t get tempted by the name.
