It’s good to know there are still some coaches and programs out there that do it right. Tom Izzo is one of those guys. Write it down. News came out of East Lansing that Izzo had dismissed guard Korie Lucious for the remainder of the season due to conduct detrimental to the team yesterday. Both parties publicized quotes…..
“Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program,” Spartans coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. “My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”
“I didn’t live up to the standards of the program,” Lucious said in his own statement. “Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season.”
Like I said, thankfully some programs still have a shred of decency. Renardo Sidney comes to mind.. He missed 1 game. It’s no secret these programs will sell their soul for these athletes and success. And the athletes know it. They walk around without rules, nobody can tell them anything. It’s really a shame what collegiate athletics have come to. I certainly don’t help the cause because I’m glued to the TV every Saturday in the Fall and throughout college basketball season. Thank you Tom Izzo, you are a rarity.
The Packers and Steelers are two of six NFL teams that do not have a professional cheering squad. Mind-boggling isn’t it? Too cold? Who knows…. With that said, we can’t have a babe-less Super Bowl can we? Of course not. So what we are going to do is roll out some hot Packers and Steelers fans to keep you warm during the Super Bowl.

Justin Morneau missed have the season in 2010 due to a concussion sustained in the beginning of July. He was injured on the play shown above, when he slid into second and took a knee to the head. Well, he missed the rest of the season including the playoffs, and now it was reported he hasn’t even started baseball related activities.
For those of you keeping score at home that’s 7 months. Now I’m not downplaying the significance of the injury and it is his second concussion, but if you look at football players who miss a week or two 7 months seems like a long time. I understand he has to hit a baseball, not catch a football or tackle a neanderthal. I’d be slightly concerned after 7 months, if he still had lingering effects.
In the news this week, Morneau was told not to attend fan fest weekend to keep his recovery on schedule. I hope nothing is seriously wrong with the Twins first baseman, but this seems a bit strange.
This has become a time-honored tradition here at Unathletic. In the fall, we did some classic PeeWee Football hits. One of my favorite videos of all-time is the hit when the little kid hits the eject button into the sideline. I love that thing. As the seasons change, we now have to put together a compilation of some sweet PeeWee Hockey hits and scuffles. They could be equally awesome…
